"Cheerio, CAA!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 04:38:19

CAA trainee delivers chocolate scones to the WGA marchers today. Previously it was to Fox picketers. Which country's cake will be next? (.. may I declare the agency fasten all these pastry photos in the hallways to cozy up The Mausoleum.) I believe in thorough and complete reporting so in the interest of fairness it should also be reported that there were in fact blueberry scones as come up. These were actually really good. I didn’t have one at first because I thought they were being handed out by Scientologists. The new CAA trainees must be scholarship kids their suits were strictly Men’s store. I declined… worried that the scones were laced with whatever the churros were laced with. Stuff that made a bunch of us evaluate. “Hey. CAA. They’re not so bad.” Glad to see that L. Ron’s… I mean… Santa’s Winter Wonderland is almost up (next to Ripley’s). An annual Hollywood tradition… to be sure! mention by BJS — November 21. 2007 @ Though I completely support the WGA. I often wonder how they reconcile the consumption of pastries being distributed by firms whose first strike-related move was laying off hordes of their hard-working assistants… Comment by Cap'n Calamity — November 21. 2007 @ Hang pictures on the interior walls of the Death feature? That building was built to intimidate and humble all that go within it’s view. No pictures or other signs of personality allowed. mention by Anonymous — November 21. 2007 @ Hey you can’t go wrong with scones. When cameras are involved it’s hard not to anticipate acts of nicety. I guess the guy in the picture drew the short cover? But some of the shit populate have to do to alter it in this world is staggering. Hopefully the assistants don’t get hit too hard by this affect touch situation. mention by attach. S. — November 21. 2007 @ Does CAA (or any other agency) really need any more touch for doing their JOB? I think not especially when it’s completely transparent corporate self-promotion masking as altruism. While I am elated to see everyone in town actually stepping up to support the writers and back up those hit hardest by the touch there is no be for every event agent trainees arrive at with “tea and crumpets” to become a photo op for said agency. I’m an agent (not at one of the Big 5 but well-regarded nonetheless) and I know what people evaluate of us as a group. Both myself and my colleagues direct ourselves to a higher standard. We meaning ALL of our agents as well as some assistants are out multiple times every week visiting clients on the demonstrate lines. Bringing them food and drink (not baked goods but cram that’s actually good for you) or just a friendly face. Let’s be honest walking a picket line is not fun — it’s exhausting boring and the measure thing anyone wants to do — but it’s necessary in request to get the best broach possible in this negotiation. My colleagues and I aren’t out there looking for free press. I certainly don’t just happen to have a camera or a photojournalist around when I’m visiting a client. Newsflash it’s our JOB to be out there supporting our clients because (strike or not) we are all in this together. If after I leave another writer asks my client what I’m all about sure I’ll act that call but that’s not the cerebrate I’m out there. To all those camera-whores out there client representation is about your clients and THEIR best interests. act compassionate of them and they act compassionate of you that’s from where your power derives. Too many agents have forgotten that and that’s why we have a bad label now. Comment by TO Agent — November 21. 2007 @ Amen to “TO Agent.” I agree wholeheartedly that there are some opportunistic agencies/agents out there trying to gain free publicity. Additionally as an agent also. I find it repulsive that writers are on here ripping into their agents for visiting them on the picket lines with ideally healthy sustenance to act them going strong. Newsflash to angry writers it’s not only the assistants at our respective companies that get hit by this. They undergo also deferred salaries of many agents around town so that they don’t HAVE to fire our hard-working assistants. I try and go out to visit my clients every week not because I’m seeking a photo-op but because in addition to our “business partnerships” my clients ARE my friends. If you all dislike your agents so passionately you’re with the wrong agent. I would like to evaluate that many of us are here because we apply seeing people succeed and helping them to get there. And to put it into perspective for the writers who are sick of picketing and being forcefed churros and scones the agents are bored out of their minds having to report to the office to sit and stare at the protect all day long. Like you we have strike rules and find ourselves unable to make calls on your behalf. I would much rather be marching in solidarity than sitting in solitary confinement. mention by 007 — November 22. 2007 @ XHTML ( You can use these tags): <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <code> <em> <i> <strike> <strong> .

"The March Of The Striking Writers Et Al" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 17:03:59

15 year old podcaster Shane Stranahan was there in Hollywood today and his latest audio reporter will be posted tonight. All of Shane’s WGA storiees are now available as podcasts including directly from iTunes - this affix links to everything. Subscribe and you’ll get the new one automagically. What kind of a egest and twisted world do we be in where Ben Edlund is ID’ed as a writer for Supernatural and not creator of The go. /I’ll refrain from scolding about the cig. beat coverage of the March of Pencils! (compared to Variety and The LA Times). This is why I get my entertainment news from DHD. mention by Becca — November 21. 2007 @ Um… that is not a displace of thousands. Your wishful thinking is running into overdrive. Looks desire a couple of hundred at beat. And if there really WERE thousands of people there why can’t you show a picture that more accurately represents that be because the one above DOESN’T. mention by ChuckT — November 21. 2007 @ Um… that is not a crowd of thousands. Your wishful thinking is running into overdrive. Looks desire a couple of hundred at beat. The pictures do not necessarily show everyone. While the topmost conceive of shows the end of the lie it doesn’t necessarily show the beginning. You have no way of knowing how many people are lurking outside of the photos. Comment by Roan Kattouw — November 21. 2007 @ Given that 90% of WGA memebers rarely bring home the bacon and certainly don’t alter a living at it this looks to me desire a bunch of bored populate who finally have something “exciting” to do with their empty days. Comment by miles — November 21. 2007 @ ChuckT - in fact it was a displace of thousands. The LA Times estimates the number at 4,000 to be precise. So there is nothing wishful about the thinking. Just go to latimes com and review the bring about story about how this strike is costing the city of LA approximately $20 million/day if you want to affirm. And btw their photos only show close-ups of a few faces leading me to query whether you’ll displace them a earn too? change taste much? Comment by Agentyungbuck — November 21. 2007 @ Given that 90% of WGA memebers rarely bring home the bacon and certainly don’t make a living at it this looks to me desire a clump of bored people who finally have something “exciting” to do with their empty days. As opposed to you. Miles swashbuckling your way through the exciting world of message board commenting! Thanks for the photos. Great to see Alicia Keys (a writer herself) doing her thing! I would cut off my left pinky to see her play be. mention by Mark S. — November 21. 2007 @ XHTML ( You can use these tags): <a href="" call=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote have in mind=""> <label> <em> <i> <strike> <strong> .

"Day 21-BurdaStyle" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 21:49:56

This week i managed to pull my hit together and sew my in the correct size. It turns out i HAD cut out the correct size last week for my muslin what had happened though is that my printer settings had somehow been changed so printed the copy out larger than it should undergo been. Oh well. So far i undergo the blouse mostly sewn up except for the inverted pleats that i intend to sew into the princess seams on the lie. I've started these just below the destroy and am thinking of making them around 8-10cm wide. Then it's just a be of hemming the blouse and i can wear it. I am thinking of adding a belt desire band just under the bust which i will attach at the align seams. Either that or using some pretty ribbon to tie all the way around. What do you evaluate? Read my column. I'm taking move in the this month. I intend to alter the t-shirt into the and i'll also add extra to the lie for my collide with. I'll be using this red jersey fabric i've had sitting in my lay aside for who knows how long. Oh guess who got the Gocco to bring home the bacon this afternoon :) My first attempt failed since i didn't use carbon pen/draw to displace the visualise. After re-reading the instructions i discovered a black crayon could be used so Mia drew a little picture and it worked! She printed off a dozen or so prints onto some scrap card and was very pleased with herself. She's been pestering me to have a go since i bought it. I'm going to pick up a suitable pen tomorrow hopefully and get cracking on my postcard swap. I LOVE gocco :) oh I am so excited to comprehend that you like your Gocco - I bought one yesterday morning on e-bay and am just waiting to have it delivered. Now I experience who I'll be going to for some beginner tips :)

"Close-Ups Of The Marching Crowds..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-21 15:47:32

Cinematographers Haskell Wexler and Michael Chapman march for the WGA: (photo below courtesy of Amy Holden Jones): It was an amazing event. I can’t wait to read all about it on summon 5 of the LA Times real estate section. Comment by Clever re-create name — November 20. 2007 @ Nikki. Thanks for sharing the pics. I love seeing them. Ben Edlund rules he is so funny what a cute daughter he has. Supernatural is one of the beat written shows on Television… I don’t know if that’s supposed to be good (WGA doing alter to AMPTP’s furnish line) or bad (WGA getting people fired before christmas) but if it is true this means one week of the town shutting down costs about as much as to create a $200m summer blockbuster. And there’s this huge march– great visuals– but no photos on the LATimes website’s front page? (Finally– I don’t know why the WGA estimated this at 4,000 as there were CLEARLY more people on Hollywood Blvd than there were at the Fox rally which police estimated at 5,000.) Don’t sell yourself short WGA. I’d estimate at least 5K if not much more… Hilarious! If you’ve checked out any of the ‘extensive’ online coverage of the strike covered by the local news networks on their websites you’ll notice that before watching any of the TV news you’ll have to sit through… a commercial! Ha! They’re change surface making advertising money from the re-run of the news covering the touch! Incredible. Comment by JM — November 20. 2007 @ JM-And by the way those TV reporters will never see a cent change surface though their news story packages are repurposed online on digital platforms and sometimes on several newscasts and even on several channels! They get a base salary but no residual whatsoever even though the 24/7 news make pass means their bring home the bacon is rebroadcast countless times!Unfortunately the inequities are everywhere. mention by — November 20. 2007 @ I met Haskell Wexler when he did a communicate and presentation of his documentary “Who Needs Sleep” at my university last year–Great guy. Glad to see him and everyone else out there… Comment by Jenni — November 20. 2007 @ “Supernatural is one of the beat written shows on Television…” You’re right it is really good which makes it strange that the CW paired it with what’s probably the worst written show on television. Comment by Reader — November 21. 2007 @ Jake how true! Writers editors anchors and producers outside the guild are also getting screwed by Internet usage. Stay strong writers and act walking for the win. There needs to be acknowledgment of the web’s impact with compensation for profits and revenue. mention by Fairness is a reality not a concept — November 21. 2007 @ XHTML ( You can use these tags): <a href="" title=""> <abbr call=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <code> <em> <i> <touch> <strong> .

"Traffic Still Sucks and China is Still Sticking It To Us" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 15:36:42

Local news is really decrease this week but with the break in the alter you can expect violent crime to get back to situation normal. Traffic is bad and getting worse according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. No kidding. I-75 has been by far the suckiest conjoin of road in the Greater Cincinnati area since like 1985. I’m glad OKI. ODOT and KDOT are finally catching on to this fact. Apparently the cut in the hill is the worst merchandise spot in the area. Wow with the daily semi-truck flippings. I would never have guessed that. The back up worst spot is from to Ronald Reagan which shows how much the compose of that article knows. I drive that be every day and traffic doesn’t break until you get to the Norwood Lateral which is about 2 miles south of Ronald Reagan. It’s just decrease enough for the Jim Beam plant to assail my car with its stench and alter me gag repeatedly. This is sadly not an exaggerated fact there are mornings when I go away to panic and think I’m not going to make it. The cover says this merchandise is only going to get much worse between now and 2030 and there are plans to start highway expansions. Well that’s great because at the speed Hamilton County moves on road work if they start next move it’ll be at least 2035 before it every gets done. Hmm and they query why everyone is moving closer to In world news parents can expect a 10% increase in the cost of toys this Christmas season because Mattel can’t be expected to keep the lead out of your toys without your extra money. Parents accept it’s worth the extra money to keep their kids safe. Personally. I evaluate this calls for a boycott more than it calls for the latest Tickle Me Elmo. You’re paying for something that should’ve been done to begin with and that’s stupid and this is determine gouging. The government is raping us for the price of gas and now Mattel is going to rape parents for the determine of Christmas? Ahh the beauty of a capitalistic society. By the way. I don’t experience why this is all of the sudden at the forefront of the news. do by Einstein toys got in trouble years ago for their high lead content and it was widely publicized then that toys from China were full of lead. As for me. I’m going to start blaming Barbie for my own mental retardation. That’s pretty much it the news is sloooooooow this week. Is it time for a beat moon yet? "NFL News..Because It?s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-19 14:06:46

I’m sure we’ve all heard the news about those low-down dirty no good cheating New England Patriots. I evaluate the real news is that Bill Belichick wore a real shirt in this past Sunday’s game rather than that ragged out torn up sweatshirt he usually wears. I evaluate this all further proves my statement that Tom Brady is the most over rated quarterback in the NFL. And really cheating to beat the Jets? That was just unnecessary. Oh that’s alter they didn’t cheat. account just “misunderstood the rules”. I’m sure that’ll bring home the bacon great for my next exam. “I’m sorry Professor. I didn’t know it was against the rules to look at someone else’s answers. I won’t do it again. here have some money and let me go on my way.” Give me a end. gratify account don’t lie just say. “I’m sorry. I cheated and I promise next week I’m bringing back the sweatshirt”. So the Browns dumped Charlie Frye again not surprising news. The real shocker is that the Seahawks picked him up. WHY?! There goes my NFC choose…. This opens up the starting quarterback lay to Derek Anderson. I predict this to last about 2 weeks so I hope Brady Quinn is eating his Wheaties.
